New Eurostar ski routes

Eurostar, the high speed rail service that links the UK with the rest of Europe has now started taking booking for its latest extension which links Britain with the ski resorts in the Alps. These new route provide rapid rail transfers between St Pancras and Ashford International station and a variety of the top resorts in the French Alps. The services start on December 27 for day runs and December 23 for night trains, and they both run until April 14 2012.

The popular French towns of Bourg St Maurice, Moûtiers and Aime-La-Plagne will all now have Eurostar stopping there, and as the stations are much closer to the resorts than the airports, passengers will have a much shorter time on their connecting coaches. All the premier French ski resorts such as Courchevel, Tignes, Meribel, Les Arcs and La Plagne are all within easy reach of the stations.

Eurostar are also allowing snowboarders and skiers to take on board an extra piece of luggage to accommodate any equipment they are taking. The return fares for the French ski services will start at £149, and there will also be the option of upgrading to Eurostar’s standard premier class for £229 return, which includes extra space to move around and also food and drink.

Trainline.com inks deal with Rail Europe

Thetrainline.com can now be used for agents planning a rail itinerary for clients to find and book European train tickets for inter-city trips. Together with Rail Europe thetrainline.con will offer tickets and information for travel in SNCFs TGV services, Thalys, Duetsche Bahn’s Ice and all overnight services.

The InterRail pass, which allows travel to 29 European countries, will also be offered by the site including booking and all details. The site also will sell tickets to all those that want to head off to ski on the slopes of Italy, Switzerland, France, Andoora, Germany and Austria.

New ski train service to Savoie

Ski property owners should rejoice given that London will now offer a new ski train service that will transport skiers from London to Savoie, which will open in December of this year. The ride only takes seven hours and returns began at £149.

Eurostar, the high speed passenger train linking UK with the Continent, is again running its popular direct ski services from St Pancras International and Ashford International to the French Alps. Return fares start this year from £149, down from £179 return last year – in response to the extremely competitive market place for ski holidays in the coming season. Eurostar provides two weekly direct services to Moûtiers, Aime-La-Plagne and Bourg St Maurice. The overnight service, leaving St Pancras International in the evening, allows travellers an extra two days on the slopes. It is the ideal solution for travellers from towns and cities beyond London, who can buy connecting fares from their home stations directly to the heart of the French Alps. Passengers will be able to use domestic trains to reach London and connect on Eurostar services, allowing them to be in the office until Friday lunchtime and on the slopes first thing on Saturday morning. As for the day train, it provides a scenic option passing through Burgundy until the magnificent panoramic Alps unfolds.

Eurostar’s ski direct services offer easy access to a variety of top ski destinations in the French Alps such as Courchevel, La Plagne, Tignes, Meribel, Les Arcs and allow skiers to select a resort tailors to their needs. Eurostar stations are located a short bus ride from the resorts, avoiding the lengthy transfers time to and from the airports.
